What kind of park is Freedom Hill County Park?

Freedom Hill County Park is a special event park which can host almost any type of function. Freedom Hill has hosted all types of events, public and private. Summer seasons usually include a variety of ethnic festivals, car, boat & motorcycle shows, church festivals, concerts, and pet shows. Organizations, businesses and families can rent the grounds for private or public events. For information on rentals call 586-979-7010.

How do I go about reserving the festival grounds or an outdoor facility for a pubic or private event?

Please consider renting Freedom Hill County Park for any type of function. We host many festivals for ethnic organizations or churches, vehicle or equipment shows, company picnics, corporate seminars, scout day camps, head start registration, graduation parties and more. Almost any kind of event can be held at our facility. All reservation requests for Public Events must be in writing and submitted to the Parks Administrator - Anthony Casasanta, after December 1 of the current year for the following year. Written requests should be addressed to Macomb County Parks and  Recreation Commission and include the type of event, the history of the sponsoring group, an estimate of how many park visitors will be expected, an advertising plan for the event, whether alcohol will be consumed and distributed and if it is for a non-profit organization. Who is the governing body which oversees decisions at Freedom Hill County Park?

The Macomb County Parks and Recreation Commission is made up of 11 members of the community. They are responsible for overseeing all aspects of Macomb County Parks and Recreation, which includes Freedom Hill County Park. They meet once a month in the Independence Building.

What does Freedom Hill County Park have to offer?

Freedom Hill County Park has 100 acres of spacious, beautiful parkland open to the public all year round. Visitors can enjoy picnic areas, covered pavilions, barbecue grills, a brand new playscape, a nature trail, a banquet & conference center, several military displays, the Metroparkway Hike and Bike Trail, a 7,000 capacity amphitheatre, volley ball area, rest rooms and more.

What does the Ralph A. Liberato Hall get used for?

The Independence Building houses The Ralph A. Liberato Hall, which is a conference facility which can accommodate 250 people for conferences, seminars, corporate meetings, etc. There are also conference rooms for smaller group functions. Organizations, businesses and families can rent the Independence building for private or public functions. Contact the main office 586-979-7010 to schedule an event in the building. The building has held seminars, hearing and vision testing, emergency aid meetings, commission meetings, craft shows, dances, dance classes, and much more. The Macomb County Parks and Recreation staff office is also located in the building.

What is the Freedom Hill Amphitheatre?

The outdoor Amphitheatre at Freedom Hill is managed by Hillside Productions. It has 4,000 seats and 3,000 lawn seats. This state-of-the-art facility is quickly spreading around the entertainment industry as one of the most up-close and intimate venues in the country, and the place to be "when the Stars come out at night." The Amphitheatre area includes a midway with concessions, rest rooms, the Hillside Club for season ticket holders with food and refreshments from Andiamo Italia, and a hospitality tent available for private parties. When did Freedom Hill County Park open?

In 1974 Macomb County Parks and Recreation leased the parkland for $1 from the Huron Clinton Metroparks for 100 years. The park was developed and opened in 1976 during the bicentennial celebration. The park was then named Freedom Hill County Park with the main building being named the Independence Building and the banquet hall the Bicentennial Room. Recently the Bicentennial Room was renamed the Ralph A. Liberato Hall.

Are there any clubs or organizations associated with Freedom Hill County Park?

The Whirlybirds are a club for R/C Model Helicopter enthusiasts. They are a non-profit Michigan organization, with a charter for the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA CLUB #1109). They are members of the International R/C Helicopter Association (CLUB #10). The club flies on Wednesdays and Sundays in the west parking lot after noon. www.michiganwhirlybirds.com

What is the parking situation at Freedom Hill County Park?

The park is open to the public free of charge, unless there is a special event taking place. If you are visiting the park during a special event then you must pay a parking fee which ranges from $5-10 depending on the event. During peak season ( April 30 - Oct. 1) there are no parking fees Monday - Thursday and the park is open for your usage until dusk daily. During off season (Oct. 1 - April 30) there generally is no parking fee and the park is open until dusk daily for your usage. Building rentals do not require parking fees. Parking Passes are available for $25 for the entire season. Senior $1 off coupons are also available. Both can be received at the Macomb County Parks and Recreation office at the park.
