March 7 Karate for Kids This 11 week class is offered to boys and girls 5 to 13 years of age. Your child will learn leadership skills to qualify for the next belt rank. The instructior will teach the importance of these skills and will provide information to the parents that will help reinforce these skills. Registration fee $20, $5 per class attended. June 7 Rib Cook-Off Once again Freedom Hill will have the smell of ribs cooking at the second Sheriff’s Rib Cook-off fund raiser. Come show off your special rib recipe and help the Macomb County Sheriff’s Bicycle Division raise funds for equipment and training. Bring your team in to cook or just come to sample the tasty ribs. Cash prizes for the Best Pig of the Day!! The day includes raffles, 50/50, dunk a deputy, and children’s fun including moonwalks, face painting and cotton candy! Dinner is at 4:30 p.m. Judging is at 5 p.m. Dinner includes Ribs, Baked Beans, Texas Cole Slaw, Potato Salad and a beverage. Team entry fee $30. June 14 HarleyFest WRIF, Miller Life, Motor City Harley-Davidson and Oakland Dodge will once again join together to bring the 10th annual HarleyFest to Macomb County!! This exciting day will bring more than 15,000 to enjoy motorcycles, food, music and lots more. Live entertainment includes Days of the New, Pop Evil, Ashes of Smoa, the Howling diablos and more. Other events are: Best of Bike show with prizes, vendor village featuring everything from clothes and jewelry to airbrush artists and live auctions featuring autographed memorabilia. WRIF will broadcast live all day including the early morning ride from Motor City Harley Davidson in Farminghton Hills all the way to Freedom Hill County Park. Last year over 1,000 bikers participated. Riders pay $20 which includes their parking fee and a donation to the Rainbow Connection. For info on the ride call (248) 473-7433. Over the past eight years HarleyFest has raised over $316,000 for various charities. The HarleyFest Grand Prize giveaway to previously qualified WRIF winners will take place on site. The winner will go home with a 2008 Harley Davidson XL1200N Sportster Nightster, a two year lease on a 2008 dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab Laramie 4 x 4, a trip for two to the Harley –Davidson 105th Anniversary Celebration in Milwaukee Labor Day Weekend and $500 gas to get you there! You can qualify to win keys for this exciting giveaway on the air, at HarleyFest parties or at participating Busch’s locations. Saturday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Free Admission; Parking is $10.

June 18 Kids Club Live Featuring Arthur's Wonderful Kind of Storytime! In concert at the Freedom Hill Amphitheatre. 1 and 5 p.m. General Admission Tickets $13. Parking fee included in ticket price. www.freedomhill.net.

June 20-22 SummerFest St. Ronald's of Clinton Township invites you to enjoy three fun-filled days including a Vegas Room, outside Big Money Wheel, outside Bingo Tent, white elephant sale, crafts, hourly 50/50, fun children's game area, moonwalks, velcro wall and much more. Friday evening the festival opens with the Polish Muslims from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday is Kid's Day and will feature Macomb County Canines, Smoke House,  Ronald McDonald and his little car, Geoffry Giraffe from Toys R Us, Corn on the Cob eating contests for kids age 3 to 14, a Prettiest Pet contest, Valvoline Race Car, ReMax Balloon Rides, discount ride bracelets and more. Saturday afternoon entertainment includes Mike Selenak and in the evening the As Is Band. Sunday an 11 a.m. Polka Mass features Big Daddy. The Encore Dance group will be performing once again along with a surprise dance group. The Ladies Sodality will feature a Bake Sale, Saturday and Sunday, Sheriff Mark Hackel will judge our first Strawberry Bake Off contest on Sunday evening. Wrapping up the festival on Sunday is our fifth annual $5,000 Big Raffle with more pay outs - Wheelbarrow of Cheer and Family Basket of Joy. June 25 Older American Festival Macomb County residents 60 years and older are invited to the 25th annual Older American Festival. Enjoy a day of dancing, exhibitor tents, bingo, health tests, bocci ball, MSU extension exhibits, box lunches and more. Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission and parking are free.

June 28- 29 Pet-A-Palooza This year enjoy two fun-filled days with your favorite four-legged animal. Grab your leash and celebrate pets. Don’t have a pet? Come see over 30 pet adoption agencies and bring home one! Craft show, pet contests hosted by WYCD’s Jyll Forsyth. July 4 Veterans' Picnic Once again the Vietnam Veterans Chapter 154 will host a Family Picnic for all to enjoy. They will welcome home heroes from Iraq, Afghanistan and the Global War on Terrorism with a ceremony at 1 p.m. put on by VVA Chapter 154 and Veterans of Modern Warfare Chapter 4. Detroit Shrine Highlanders Pipes & Drums will perform. Bring your classic vehicle for a cruise-in car show. July 11, 12 & 13 Polish Festival The American Polish Century of Sterling Heights presents its Annual American-Polish Festival and Craft Show. The festival features live music along with a variety of Polish and American Food and beverages. Entertainment from many bands such as Touch of Brass and Old School on Friday, K-Tones, Darell Weltin's New Brass Express and Tony Blazonczyk's New Phaze on Saturday, and on Sunday Duane Malinowski & Polka Jamboree and Jeff Mleczko's Dyna Brass. There will be a Traditional Polish Mass on Sunday at noon, featuring the American Polish Century Club Choir. This is a very lively and family fun event, come by and listen to the music, or just walk around on this nice Summer weekend and visit all the different craft displays, and the many vendors that take part in this event. July 18, 19 & 20 Festa Italiana Join the Italian American Cultural Center for this favorite Italian festival. The weekend opens with a special dedication in honor of Reno Garagiola's 40 years as the Festival chairperson for the Italian American Cultural Society. A parade of Italian Clubs at 6 p.m. and the introduction of this year's Queen and her court at 8 p.m. Dino Valle is Master of Ceremonies with Coro Italiano performing. Live entertainment throughout the weekend includes Pino Marelli, Al Martino Show, Julius La Rosa Show, Gino's Market from Canada, Coro Italiano, Ray Battani, Mark Randisi, Ciaro with Nino Di Benedetto, "An Evening at the Opera" with Verdi Opera Theatre of Michigan's Artist - Soprano Eva Evola, Mezzo Soprano Lisa Agazzi, and Pianist Martin Mandelbaum. A children's area will feature games, moonwalks, rock climbing and a youth tent with a DJ all weekend. Also taking place on Saturday will be a Meat Ball Contest, Spaghetti Eating contest, Lamborgini/Ferrari Car Show, the Club Terrasini La Festa Degli Schietti will be near the back of the Independence Building at 4 p.m. Traditional Mass is Sunday at 11 a.m.The 6th annual Donna Greco Beautiful Baby contest is at 2 p.m. A BMW will be raffled off Sunday evening. Raffle tickets will be available through the Italian Cultural Center and at the festival all weekend. Visit a variety of your favorite local vendor booths including Randazzo Fresh Market, Andiamo, Nino Salvaggio International Marketplace, Stroh's Ice Cream, Pizza Machine, IACS Activities Club, IACS Concessions, Mr. Enclosure, Authorized Cellular, National Coney Island, Villa Bella, Picano's, Larco's Restaurant, Biggby Coffee, Lucido's Jewelry, and many more. New this year will be the Italy for Life Hospitality Mobile Exhibit which will immerse visitors in the beauty, culture and destinations within Italy. The cafe-style trailer has seating, coffee, photomurals, touch screen monitors and a library of sorts on destinations in Italy. In conjunction with this year's festival the IACS Soccer Tournament will take place Saturday and Sunday at Bethsda Church next to the park, (3v3 and 11v11). August 8-10 Irish Festival – Back by popular demand the Irish are coming!! This festival promises to bring Irish culture to Macomb County with traditional food, Irish dancers and music. Opening ceremony includes bagpiper and Dan McCarville and Chris Buryta with Irish and American sing-a-longs. Odd Enough will perform wild Celtic music from 7 p.m. to 11p.m. Saturday's entertainment includes: 1 p.m. - Alan Cayn (traditional music and ballads); 2 p.m. Bucyus(Irish folk music); 3 p.m. Colin Paige(Irish, Scottish, & Canadian folk music); 4 p.m. Chris Angel (traditional and contemporary Celtic folk); 5 p.m. Odd Enough (Wild Celtic music); 6 p.m. Heinzman Dancers (traditional Irish dancing); 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Shamrock Shore (Irish pub music). August 23 West-Bosnian Festival New to Freedom Hill County Park but in its 11th year the Krajiski Teferic is a traditional annual gathering of people originating from the western part of Bosnia-Herzegovina who currently reside in the United States and Canada. The festival Krajeiski Teferic symbolizes the exodus of West Bosnians from their country in the period of 1994-95 and as such recognizes the perseverance of human spirit and celebrates Bosnian heritage, culture and traditions. This year, organized by the Union of Citizens Bosanska Krajina, the festival will feature a soccer tournament, musical performances, folklore performances by Bosnian dance groups from all over the united States, ethnic dance music, presentation of traditional foods and age appropriate activities for children. Along with many returning participants the forklore dancing group Sevdah from San Francisco will perform. Saturday, noon to 11 p.m. Free admission; parking $6.

September 11 Freedom Walk Sponsored by Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 154, American Legion Post 4, Macomb County Fallen Heroes and Veterans of Modern Warfare Chapter 4. Motorcycles will line up at American Legion Post 4, on 401 N. Groesbeck in Mt. Clemens at 5 p.m. and leave for Freedom Hill at 7 p.m. The walk around the park ends with a short patriotic program. September 14 Battle of the Brits Car Show The 26th annual Battle is hosted by the Detroit Triumph Sports Car Club and the Metro Triumph Riders. Enjoy over 300 classic British cars and 200 British Motorcycles at one event. 37 different Judged categories. Early registration encouraged. Parts, vendors, featured Mini Cooper.
